Changing the math on childhood hunger

Updated: Dec 3, 2019

It took months of preparation and hard work to pull it off – but on September 15th, Good News Church led an event to pack 15,000 meals for kids dealing with hunger crisis in Delaware County, OH. We were joined by 350 people from the community, schools, businesses, and other churches to pack these meals in under 2 hours!

The vast majority of the meals were delivered to an organization that gets food into the hands of children through a school backpack program. It was an amazing experience to see so many people from different backgrounds come together to serve. It’s humbling to know that 1 in 5 kids throughout the U.S. are dealing with hunger insecurity.

The event we hosted will feed ALL the kids in the school backpack program for 6 weeks! If you want more information on how to host an event similar to this, check out www.generosityfeeds.org.

One of the most important things that happened on that day is people sharing the “why”. For hundreds of people in Powell to see a church interested in serving in Jesus’ name is inspiring. We're grateful for the leaders within Good News Church who openly shared their faith on that day – connections were made and seeds of hope were planted.
